The old aluminum awning out back had been there since the 1970s.It did its job once, but decades of San Diego sun had left it tired and dark, and the patio underneath had become somewhere you walked through rather than somewhere you sat.
The homeowners knew what they wanted and they only wanted to do it once. So we started with the design, working through the layout and the post placement until the space on paper matched the space they pictured. Then we cleared out the old awning, set a steel reinforced header beam so the cover could span open on just two posts, and installed a new Alumawood Elitewood Ultra insulated aluminum
patio cover. Last came the electrical: LED ceiling lights, ceiling fans and receptacles built into the cover itself.
Four to five days later the back of the house was a different place. The insulated panels keep the afternoon heat off, the open two post design means nothing stands between the house and the yard, and the fans and lights turn the patio into a room the family still uses after dark. The customer was happy enough to send his next door neighbor our way for a cover of his own.
