A few blocks from the ocean in Pacific Beach, this couple had the setting and none of the shade.The patio behind their beachside home caught the sun all day and the salt air all year, so it was somewhere to pass through rather than somewhere to sit, and anything built there had to stand up to the coast.
They took proposals from several companies and chose Southwest Builders because Tom’s custom design matched the outdoor space they had pictured. We designed the cover around the property, placing a custom support post attachment so the usable space underneath stayed as open as possible, then installed an Elitewood Ultra insulated aluminum
patio cover with an integrated rain gutter to handle the coastal weather. The whole job took four days.
The patio is now the beach house retreat they had in mind. The insulated panels keep the afternoon heat off, the open post layout leaves room to move and gather underneath, and the gutter carries the winter rain away instead of dripping off the edge.
